I’ll welcome you in the cathedral square and from there, we’ll begin a guided walking tour through the old town of Tui.
We’ll see the Cathedral of Santa María, the crown jewel of the town. It’s not surprising, as it houses the best-preserved medieval cloister in all of Galicia. The sensation of walking under its arches will captivate you! During the 15th and 16th centuries, Jewish and converso goldsmiths worked on its construction.
However, Tui has much more charm than the cathedral alone. Its stone streets, passageways, and tunnels will transport you to another era. The Miño River, a natural border between Spain and Portugal, will allow us to enjoy a magnificent view of the wall of the Portuguese town of Valença. Both towns are connected by the Tui International Bridge, which will remind you of a very famous monument in Paris, the Eiffel Tower—do you know why?
The Holy Inquisition left its mark on the city of Tui, and we will discover together the secret passageways and tunnels, the old jails, and certain legends that… might just be true?
